Shutter Headboard

I have been scouring flea markets for shutters!  I bought these assorted sized shutters for about $2.50 a piece.  I stripped them and spray painted them with the help of my husband.   He put up with me messing up his work shop area in the garage.  This really has been a fun project.  My hubby also put the shutters together for me to form the headboard.
He used two boards screwed in at the back to keep them together.  I used blue spray paint and a little green spray paint to cover these well worn shutters. I want to make the guest room into a room that has a beach/ nautical feeling to it. I still have work to do but it is getting there.  Check out the results-

I need to change out the bed linens - I am still looking for the right sheets and pillow cases!  I really love how it turned out!

  1. This turned out great Chris!!! It was worth scouring the countryside for the shutters! Great job and I like the colors that you used! My favorite color is blue!

  2. I must have been unpacking when you did this post.. I love the headboard. If this doesn't send people running to fleamarkets, nothing will. Very nice look.

  4. How tall are these shutters? Did you actually attach this to the bed frame or are they free standing?

  5. We attached them to the wall. I am not at home so can't measure but tallest one is about 5 ft.

  6. Looking forward to seeing what you did with the shutters. The only reason I rolled my eyes was because shutters are hard to paint!!! You did a great job on them.
