Princess Birthday

A co-worker asked me to make a birthday card for her niece!  Anytime I can make a card for a little girl - I am thrilled!  This one was fun! I discovered the cascading card is a great base for a Castle! The turrets are glued to the edges of the card.  The little face in the window is Tilda!  I saw a card on Pinterest that used the Cascading birthday message.  You will find instructions for the Cascading card on this blog too!  I loved it! Check it out here-

Cindy's Card

Friends are forever!
Our friend, Cindy is having a birthday! We met her when she was a SU demonstrator.  My sister's and I love her like another sister!  She isn't demonstrating anymore but we still have lots of fun with her!  Tonight is a get together with Cindy and her husband to celebrate her birthday and to just get spend some time together. What better way to spend a Saturday night!
I used a Spellbinder's die to cut out the "window."  I cut the die cut in half and scored them to make the "shutters".   The faces of the women are made from- SU's  oval punch & tag punch.  I rounded the tag punch just a little to make it look more like a face.  The curly blonde hair are what pieces you usually discard of the Memory Box die called Honeysuckle Vine.  Hmmm.. I think the rest is really just made from whatever punch or die I have available.  For instance their bodies are made from SU's tag punch that I rounded somewhat to soften the look.   You can use an oval punch or a slot punch to make the necklines. The arms are, again, the slot punch, at least I believe that's what it is called. The mouths are hand drawn since I can't seem to perfect that look!  Here are more pics-

Cascading Card Tutorial

Shower Cascading Card!

Jill's shower card!
Yup! Another Cascading card.  In fact, I am in the process of uploading a short tutorial to demonstrate how to make a Cascading card!  This one I edged with Martha Stewarts edger punch.  I cut off the scallops so the animals would show a little more.  The Giraffe and monkey are Sizzix dies - the lion is made from the SU owl punch and a scallop circle.  I used several Memory box dies on this card- They are my new favorite dies!  More pics-
UPDATE:  Check out my blog archive for the Cascading card tutorial dated Feb 20th!

Check out my blog for my tutorial later today!  Have a great day!

Candy, Candy and more Candy!

Last weekend my sister and her husband and my husband were traveling to go to an indoor flea market in Wells.  We got there before it opened! So we thought we would kill some time on the Main Street of Ogunquit.  We stumbled upon  The Harbor Candy Store!  In a word- WOW!  I have never seen such beautiful displays of CANDY!  It made our mouth's water.  Of course, we had to buy some Valentine's candy but it was full of all types of candy.  Check out some more of the delicious stuff!

How many flavors?

Just beautiful!

They even had a lovely display of old Fashioned Valentine's Day cards!  I took these pictures so I would stop drooling and there are far less calories in just looking - don't you think??

Valentine Baskets!

I found directions for this adorable Valentine basket while I was looking at Pinterest!  I made these for my staff for Valentine's Day! I love using different decorative paper for them but the sturdiest of papers are the best to use.  They are filled with a candy packet that contains 2 graham crackers, marshmellow and snack size Hersey bar=S'mores!  I also added different decorative trim to each basket.  I only used one handle for each basket.  The directions show 2- which is cute too!! You can click on the picture to make it bigger!  Happy Valentine's Day to all!  You can check out the directions here-

Scarf Ladder

I had to show you a picture of the Scarf Ladder my husband built for me!  I have been complaining about having no place for my scarfs- which have been in a tote bag jumble-so he built me this fabulous ladder to hold them!  Now, I can see what I have for colors and styles!  He said it only cost him around $20.00 and the labor was FREE!  How cool is that!!

Retail Therapy Cascading Card

Birthday Shopping!

The Wild Women are out again!  This time they are traveling in a Cascading card!  This technique is perfect to hold all their shopping bags!  I just bought Martha Stewarts Deco fan edger- perfect for one of my Wild Woman's collar! How very chic! Their sunglasses are made from SU's scallop edger with some glitter for Pizzaz! I found the sentiment on Pinterest.  I am still laughing!!  This card makes me wanna go shopping!! I have more pics of this fabulous shopping day!

Pinwheel Valentine Card

This Cascading card was fun because I got to use some of the scraps of my most favorite paper! It almost looks like a quilt! I think I am almost done with my ideas for Valentine's Day card using the Cascading card technique. I did say almost... I have started a card for a birthday card that I haven't quite finished but will upload later this week.

A Valentine's Day card for Queenie!

My mother-in-law is in a nursing home in Northern Maine. She is going to be 96 years old this year. Queenie  has always been a gentle, warm and loving mother to me.   I love her much.  I know she loves birds and especially cardinals!  My husband asked if I would make her a card with her favorite birds. So, of course, I had to try and make the Cascading card work!  I forgot I had a Sizzix tree die.  It worked perfectly for my birds.  The cardinals are made from the SU bird punch.
I love my new Memory box die that I used for the back of this card. Memory box dies are my new favorite thing.   Sometimes the Cascading card almost feels like you are decorating a float.  I really love the 3D effect the card brings.  The picture below shows how it closes to allow it to be mailed.
It is extra large and will cost more but I think it is worth it if Queenie enjoys it!

Pink Valentine's Day card!

Another Cascading card!

Well, I am still making Valentine's Day Cards... yes, another Cascading card!   Now, my new favorite technique!  I added a pink Rosette at the back, just cus I like them so much!  The flower stamp is from Stampin UP - the new Mixed Punch set of stamps and I used the Blossom punch to cut out.  For the front of the card - I used one of the Memory Box dies.  I think the are fabulous!  Some of the very small flowers are on an acrylic strip so they appear to be floating- not sure you can see that. Click on any picture to make it bigger! Here are some more pictures- The Cascading cards are fun, fun to make!

Treetop Owls!

Ok, I am obsessed!  I am loving the Cascading card that is the new Technique Lover's challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers!  Holly brought us Sonia's great new technique!  I love it!  I am still working on my Valentine's Day cards.  I think my Grandson might like this one!  I used Stampin Up's owl punch and a Spellbinder's die to make some of the branches.  I don't remember the name of that particular die.  This picture shows a tealight in the bottom of the card.  I cut away some of the card stock to make it look like limbs of a tree.  A little bit of work but I like the way it came out. The directions to make the base are on my previous posts for Valentine Day cards.  Take a look at more pictures -
I love this technique!
