Window box Birthday Card!

I have been searching for an idea for a card for my Mom's 82nd birthday that is coming next week.  I saw Carol's Pop Up Window Box card on  her blog located here:
She has the link to the instructions on her blog.  Qbee's instructions are really easy to follow.  I changed the flowers on my card and added a little friend in the window box.  I think my Mom will get a kick out of it! I used a Sizzix embossing folder to make the flowers.  The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch.  The front of the card was made with a Spellbinder's Label die but I can't remember which number die.  I love the gems they make now that go with the Spellbinder's dies.  I don't know if you can see it in the pictures, but they really sparkle.  They are so easy to apply if you use tweezers to remove them and add them to your card.  I really hope Mom likes the card.  We lost Dad just a few months ago but Mom is really doing well.  She smiles more now than she did and she seems like herself again.  We are so blessed to have her with us!

Anniversary Swans!

I recently purchased Valita's Swan Tutorial!  This is my first attempt but I really love the look of the Swans!  They were so easy to make! I had to wait until I received Stampin Up's Build a Blossom punch but it was worth the wait!  The sentiment is also from Stampin Up.  The sentiment is encircled by JustRite's stamp that I embossed in silver.  I think this is going to be one of my favorite stamp sets.  The quality of the stamps are fabulous!  I used Spellbinder's Labels Twenty to cut it out!   Architectural Sizzlets in silver are at the corners.  I meant to put the Swans at the bottom of the card but I ending up leaving too much space.  So I used some ribbon to fill in the gap. There is so much silver on this card- I think it would be great for a 10th Anniversary card. Isn't that the silver anniversary?   Valita's instructions are fabulous!  I don't know where you come up with your ideas, Valita, but they are just great!! You can purchase her Swan Tutorial here-

Happy St. Patty's Day!

We are on vacation for a couple of days - I wanted to get a last post in.  I seem to be going from Easter cards to St. Patrick Day cards.  I love making both!  I wanted to show a couple of pictures that show you what I used for dies and punches to make my leprechaun and the rainbow.
I used Sizzix's Spiral die for the rainbow.  I can't believe how much I use this die! I used it for the arms on my leprechaun, too!

Easter Carousel

I have been playing around with making a carousel for a few days.  The hardest part is coming up with the idea!!  I used an empty toilet paper roll for the center.  I love the bunny Sizzlet die and the Tilda stamp that has her holding an Easter egg- I got the chance to use both!!  The butterflies are from Spellbinder's too!  It is sitting on top of an empty ribbon spool.  I love the chance to recycle items that I have saved and just can't seem to throw away!  Not that I save toilet paper rolls but think how many of them you throw away!  At least I got the chance to use ONE!  Anyway, it will make a nice centerpiece for Easter!  Wait ...Shhhh....Maybe I won't tell anyone it was made with a toilet paper roll...

Wild Rose

I had to try Valita's Owl Rose just to see if I could do it.  It came out better than I thought it possibly could!  I really love it because the bottom of the rose sits flat.  That makes it easy to add to cards!  This card is for a co-workers birthday!  I used Spellbinder's vine die for the greenery.  You can find Valita's video directions on her blog located here- http://valitasfreshfolds.blogspot.com/

Welcome baby cards

I have been asked to make a couple of Baby shower cards for a co-worker.  I made the Side Stair card as a dresser previously but this time a made it with a crib!  I used Tim Holtz's Caged bird die for the baby's crib.  Even the mobile was made from the top of the bird cage.  You can find the directions to Jackie's Side Stair card  here:  http://jackietopa.typepad.com/addicted_to_stamping/2010/07/side-step-dresser-tutorial.html
I wanted to make the baby carriage the entire card not have the carriage sit on a card. I love that the card can stand on its own.  I folded my card stock in half and then used the largest Spellbinder's circle die to cut but made sure on small edge was inside the die so the card would still fold.  Then you cut a wedge out of the circle to create the carriage.  The wheels are also made from Spellbinder's circle dies.  I really had fun decorating the carriage.  The little face peaking out is from Sizzix's sizzlets as is the bear and bottle on the Stair card.   You can click on the picture to make it bigger.

I made another Baby Carriage that was just a tad bigger than the original.  I also added a little more ribbon to it.  My Spellbinder's Snowflake die just arrived in the mail- the center of the snowflake was perfect for the spokes of the wheels on the carriage.
The larger carriage gives  you more room inside to use your sentiment!
