Cupcake Throne

I love Jan's Cupcake Throne!  I stumbled across her instructions on her blog- which was on Pinterest.  Here is the link-

I made one of these for someone special - and of course, put a cupcake in it.  It was sooo cute!  I had several requests to make more!  This time I used Shimmer Sheets for the background on all of them but the blue one.  The blue one is Ranger's sandable paper - I embossed it, then sanded it.  It is really cool paper!    Shimmer sheets are plastic and shiny and can be embossed too!  I sanded two of them. On the pink Happy Birthday one - I used Staz On ink.  I just rubbed it lightly across the top.  I love both of these techniques.  Here are a few more pics-You can click on them to make them larger.

This picture shows how shimmery- Shimmer Sheets are!  They are fabulous!  I only have 2 colors but I will have to get more!!!   I have not finished decorating them all since I want to save a couple for future use.  I think they are adorable!  Thanks, Jan!

Happy Halloween!

I wanted to post a few pictures of the Witches shoes I made for my co-workers! I have posted the template for these shoes earlier- check out my side bar to find that post.
I love making these shoes- I wanted to use green and black Oreo cookies for the treat but could not find cello bags to use.  I think the candy corn work just fine. It was fun decorating each one a little differently.   Here are a few more pictures!

I wanted to thank everyone, again, for the lovely messages of Sympathy that were sent to me.  It really helped me to deal with the loss of my Mother-in-law.   We are now gearing up for Hurricane Sandy hear in the East.  It is going to be well South of us but I sounds like we are going to get alot of wind and rain.  My brother and his family live in New Jersey- We are praying for them and everyone that lives in that area  today since that seems to be where the Hurricane is coming ashore!   Have a Happy Halloween!

Just a quick post to say " Thank you" for all the expressions of Sympathy.  It has been such a sad time but reading all the lovely replies on this blog and the e-mails I have received have really helped lift me up!  I can't thank you enough!

Northern Maine in October

Lutheran Church

We are back from Stockholm, Maine.  We buried my mother-in-law on Saturday in her home town of Stockholm, Maine.  I thought I would show just a few pictures of this beautiful town - especially this time of year.  The church above is where the funeral was held.

School Street colorful tree

I took several walks while we were in Stockholm since the weather was so warm ...even up there!  This tree stood out with it's fabulous color.  The picture below is the bridge that is right in the center of town.

I had to show this picture of one of the windows in the General Store in downtown Stockholm. My Mother-in-law would have loved this!  I can hear her laughter now.  I will miss her so much.  Rest in peace, Queenie.

Queenie Peterson

I am sorry I have not posted anything lately.  I am dealing with the loss of my Mother-in-law, Queenie Peterson.  She was 96 years old.  She was the sweetest, kindest person I have ever known.  My eyes are full of tears as I write how much I loved her.  Such a gentle heart- but feisty when she wanted to be!  We have so many wonderful memories of Queenie!  Forgive me if I do not post for a while as my husband and I  deal with losing such a blessing in our lives.
