Collage Couture

Wow!   Where have the last 2 weeks gone?  Busy at work, busy at home!  I can't believe it's the end of the month, already!  I purchased Julie Nutting's new book, Collage Cuture, recently and I just LOVE it!!  It has brought out the hidden artist in me!!   I loved creating the background for this canvas art project!!  Not to mention the clothes!  I have such beautiful scrapbooking paper that I am thrilled to be able to use it for other than scrapbooking!!!  The sentiment says, " What's important about the dress is the woman wearing it!"   Check out Julie's blog here-

I used Modge Podge for the adhesive and Claudine Hellmuth's acrylic paints.  I really followed Julie's instructions to create this canvas art. Love, love, love her book!  I bought mine at http://www.amazon.com/

A Baby on the Way!

One of my daughter's friends is pregnant!  What a special time for these parents-to-be!  I wanted to make them a card to say Congratulations on their special news!  I used SU's Wild About You stamp set.  I have to say this is one of my favorite sets!  The Conductor monkey is from Sizzix.  I used pinks and blues and all kinds of colors for this card.  I love making baby cards!   Here is a picture of the inside-

Window box Birthday Card!

I have been searching for an idea for a card for my Mom's 82nd birthday that is coming next week.  I saw Carol's Pop Up Window Box card on  her blog located here:
She has the link to the instructions on her blog.  Qbee's instructions are really easy to follow.  I changed the flowers on my card and added a little friend in the window box.  I think my Mom will get a kick out of it! I used a Sizzix embossing folder to make the flowers.  The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch.  The front of the card was made with a Spellbinder's Label die but I can't remember which number die.  I love the gems they make now that go with the Spellbinder's dies.  I don't know if you can see it in the pictures, but they really sparkle.  They are so easy to apply if you use tweezers to remove them and add them to your card.  I really hope Mom likes the card.  We lost Dad just a few months ago but Mom is really doing well.  She smiles more now than she did and she seems like herself again.  We are so blessed to have her with us!

Wise Owl Graduation

I am making a bunch of Graduation cards for family and friend's upcoming Graduations!
I cased Lorri's adorable Graduation card that you can see here-
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1966898?&perpage=96&thumbsonly=0&si=graduation
She had such a cute idea to use SUp's owl punch as a graduate!  I just loved it and had to give it a try.  I love SU's owl punch anyway and love it whenever I get the chance to  use it.  I did add glasses to my wise owl to make my owl just a little different.  The sentiment is from SU too!  Check out the inside of the card-

The template for the Graduation cap is located at Carol's blog here-

I love to visit her blog because she has such a collection of unique cards!  Her directions made this card really easy to make!

Friend's Birthday Card

90th Birthday Celebration!
My Mother asked me to make a card to celebrate her friends 90th birthday!  I know her friend has been ill lately so I hope this brings her a little bit of cheer!  I used Nestabilities to make the lacy oval and the circle Nestabilities for the inside of the lacy oval.  I just purchased Spellbinder's crosses dies and I love them.  I wished I had them at Easter time.  I took all the sizes of crosses and brushed them with different colors of Tim Holtz's Distressed ink and then layered them with dimensionals.  I love the effect!  The flowers are from SU's Fifth Avenue Floral stamps.  I stamped them in Tim Holtz's Worn Lipstick and also brushed the edges with the ink as well.  The center is colored with Copic markers in yellow and orange.  Then brushed with Distressed ink in Marigold.  Martha Stewart's butterfly in My Mind's Eye paper was used to finish off my card.  The background paper is from My Mind's Eye too!  My new favorite decorative paper! The sentiment on the front of the card is from Stampin Up's All Holidays Stamp.   Here are a few more pictures!

Close Up!

My Mom's favorite Bible verse is used inside!

Creating Keepsakes Convention 2011

I traveled with my sisters, Rochelle &  Connie and our friend, Kathy  to Manchester, NH yesterday for Creating Keepsakes Scrapbooking Convention! It was fabulous!  I do scrapbook but I am much more into making cards so I was a little worried I wouldn't find anything that interested me.   Plus, I am still dealing with the healing of my knee from surgery that I had on April 1st.  Well, not to worry, my knee held up amazingly and the convention was FABULOUS!  I thought I would share a few pictures of the booths we saw as toured the convention!
Tami Potter's Mosaic Moments had a booth and I loved her display!  I have done many scrapbook pages using her products and they are so lovely!  I haven't done it in a while so I took a few pictures so I would be inspired to try it again.  You can click on the photos to get a larger view.  She had a wedding page that was sooo pretty!  It is pretty amazing how they come up with so many different ways to use the Mosaic technique.  I really love the results!
Here are my traveling companions and fellow shoppers!  We shopped together for most of the time but the last half hour we did Free-Styling!  That is splitting up and going off in our own direction with instructions on what time and where to meet up again!  Everyone went off on their hunt!! It really was a fun day!

Rochelle, Connie and Kathy!
Just a few more shots of the booths and all they hold.  I really can't wait until next year's convention!  Heartfelt Creations & Outlines Rubber Stamp Co. were some of my favorite booths since they had dies and stamps and beautiful samples of the cards you can make. We spent alot of time there!  One of the great things was that most of the booths have web sites so when we ran out of money - we knew we could shop online another day!
