Mickey Mouse!

It won't be long before we go visit Mickey!  We have become a little obsessive in collecting Mickey Mouse stuff!  Flea marketing has become another obsession and it is a great place to find unique Mickeys! Of course, not all of them came from flea markets.  Some were gifts from friends, some were purchased on ebay.  The telephone below is a working phone that when it rings - Mickey's voice comes on to tell you " You have a phone call"!  My grandson love to push the button to hear Mickey's voice-over and over again!

I love the large Mickey teapot below.  The plate is from the 1950's - found at a flea market.  The Wizard is my husband's favorite.

How can you not smile when you see this collection of Mickey's.  It  makes a bad day- better! My favorite Mickey is in the tuxedo!  Another fav is the Jim Shore Mickey's!  I love them!

Happy St. Pat's Day!

Cascading Card
Our 4 year old Grandson is visiting us for a few days!  We are so happy to have him with us -even for a short time!  I had started this St. Patrick's Day card before he came - thank goodness- since I have not had a moment in my Studio.  After he fell asleep, I decided to finish it. Yes, it is another Cascading card.  I won't promise it is my last- since I love them-but I think I am ready to do a new techinque or at least something different.   I will probably take a small break so that I can keep up with our Grandson!  I will say that I sleep soundly at night after trying to keep up with him all day!

I wish you much luck this St. Patty's Day!

Princess Birthday

A co-worker asked me to make a birthday card for her niece!  Anytime I can make a card for a little girl - I am thrilled!  This one was fun! I discovered the cascading card is a great base for a Castle! The turrets are glued to the edges of the card.  The little face in the window is Tilda!  I saw a card on Pinterest that used the Cascading birthday message.  You will find instructions for the Cascading card on this blog too!  I loved it! Check it out here-

Cindy's Card

Friends are forever!
Our friend, Cindy is having a birthday! We met her when she was a SU demonstrator.  My sister's and I love her like another sister!  She isn't demonstrating anymore but we still have lots of fun with her!  Tonight is a get together with Cindy and her husband to celebrate her birthday and to just get spend some time together. What better way to spend a Saturday night!
I used a Spellbinder's die to cut out the "window."  I cut the die cut in half and scored them to make the "shutters".   The faces of the women are made from- SU's  oval punch & tag punch.  I rounded the tag punch just a little to make it look more like a face.  The curly blonde hair are what pieces you usually discard of the Memory Box die called Honeysuckle Vine.  Hmmm.. I think the rest is really just made from whatever punch or die I have available.  For instance their bodies are made from SU's tag punch that I rounded somewhat to soften the look.   You can use an oval punch or a slot punch to make the necklines. The arms are, again, the slot punch, at least I believe that's what it is called. The mouths are hand drawn since I can't seem to perfect that look!  Here are more pics-

Cascading Card Tutorial

Shower Cascading Card!

Jill's shower card!
Yup! Another Cascading card.  In fact, I am in the process of uploading a short tutorial to demonstrate how to make a Cascading card!  This one I edged with Martha Stewarts edger punch.  I cut off the scallops so the animals would show a little more.  The Giraffe and monkey are Sizzix dies - the lion is made from the SU owl punch and a scallop circle.  I used several Memory box dies on this card- They are my new favorite dies!  More pics-
UPDATE:  Check out my blog archive for the Cascading card tutorial dated Feb 20th!

Check out my blog for my tutorial later today!  Have a great day!

Candy, Candy and more Candy!

Last weekend my sister and her husband and my husband were traveling to go to an indoor flea market in Wells.  We got there before it opened! So we thought we would kill some time on the Main Street of Ogunquit.  We stumbled upon  The Harbor Candy Store!  In a word- WOW!  I have never seen such beautiful displays of CANDY!  It made our mouth's water.  Of course, we had to buy some Valentine's candy but it was full of all types of candy.  Check out some more of the delicious stuff!

How many flavors?

Just beautiful!

They even had a lovely display of old Fashioned Valentine's Day cards!  I took these pictures so I would stop drooling and there are far less calories in just looking - don't you think??
